As with all families, there are two main branches. My Paternal branch are the Drake's from the East End area of London, with the Maternal branch, Edwards, from the Tottenham area of North London.
Below are most of the details that I have been able to find in a search that began when I found out I was adopted. That was in 1977, aged 37. It's been a long haul trying to find my birth family and I am still searching. Thank goodness for the Internet. It has made things so much easier. I have been building a family tree and has thrown up one or two smiles, as they all do. With the same First names repeating all the way down the line
From a Swiss Count to toothbrush makers, and horsehair dressers to lightermen, plus the usual collection of hawkers and bricklayers

My Registered name was KENNETH JOHN PARRY, BORN 27.5.1940, at 144 Northumberland Park, Tottenham, Registration District: Edmonton, Middlesex. In fact I was registered twice, presumably by my father too.

My birth mother (Left) was DOROTHY MAY PARRY, nee EDWARDS, residing in 53 Fairfield Road, Edmonton, Middlesex, and her family were living at 324, White Hart Lane, Tottenham.

My father was EDMOND JOHN DRAKE and was living at 149 Park Ave, Palmers Green, occupation - Motor Lorry Driver for a General Stores. He died in 1977, in Islington. I am told he had two sons, Allan and John.
I was adopted at the Bolton Borough Juvenile Court, on 6th. October 1943 and my name was changed to KENNETH JOHN St. CLAIR STOCKLEY,

I have two sons, Andrew (L), bn 11th. January 1978, and Nathan, [R] bn 8th. January, 1983.
Andrew lives near Fakenham, Norfolk and is an Auto Electrician,
Nathan lives in Clapham, London and is a Personal Fitness Trainer. He has a Masters Degree in Sports Science and has recently been part of the Training Staff with the Harlequins RFC.

The main breakthrough came at the end of November, 2004. I posted a message on one of the genealogy boards, Genes Reunited, requesting information about adoptee's tracing their families. This was not the first board I had posted on.
One lady emailed me and suggested I get in touch with Joan Allan and post a message on her website, MyFolks.co.uk, which I did.

Left:  Pat, Mother and Shirley

Within an hour, Joan had contacted me and let me know I had an older half sister, Shirley, who had  died in the early 90's. Joan also found Gerald's, Shirley's husband, present address.  I wrote to him and he phoned me up a few days later, telling me that I had a half sister, Pat, who living in Harlow. He gave me a couple of addresses in Harlow and told me that my mother had remarried. I wrote to Pat and she phoned me on Tuesday 21st. December, 2004. What a Christmas present!

The Hooligans - Ellie and Matthew.

I think that Ellie is going to be a mountaineer when she grows up, as she seems to have no fear and wants to climb everything, and Matthew? MMMM Maybe a gardener!

What did I start when I got him a Link Board raised garden?

Paul married Jamie Smithers in October 2006
